Taiwan Long-Term Socio-Ecological Research

Hualien platform is one of the research stations belonging to the Taiwan long-term socio-ecological research (LTSER) platform founded by the National Science and Technology Council of Taiwan. Ten platform members belong to the College of Environmental Studies and Oceanography, National Dong Hwa University, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and School of Life Science, National Taiwan Normal University. We focus on physical environmental conditions and fluxes, biodiversity, land use, and social systems to conduct long-term socio-ecological surveillance. To gather data on ecosystem service, and socioeconomic changes in Fenglin Township, and Guangfu Township located in East Rift Valley. The main purpose is to understand how climate change, government policies, and land use alteration would affect the local socio-ecological system.
